Ganderbal District (Kashmiri: गांदरबल ज़िला (Devanagari), گاندربل ضلع (Perso-Arabic)) is a newly formed district of the state of Jammu and Kashmir of India. It was formerly 2 tehsils (Ganderbal and Kangan) of Srinagar District.

Ganderbal district consists of 4 blocks: Ganderbal, Wakoora, Lar and Kangan.[1] Each block consists of a number of panchayats.
Ganderbal District has 2 assembly constituencies: Kangan and Ganderbal.[2]
According to the 2011 census Ganderbal district has a population of 297,003 ,[3] roughly equal to the nation of Barbados.[4] This gives it a ranking of 57nd2 in India (out of a total of 640).[3] The district has a population density of 1,151 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,980 /sq mi) .[3] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 36.3 %.[3] Ganderbal has a sex ratio of 869 females for every 1000 males,[3] and a literacy rate of 59.99 %.[3]
